Are You Trapping Others?

Before you can free yourself from your own trap, whatever that may be, there is one important thing to remember. You cannot be free from your trap if you leave someone else in a trap.

The Golden Rule tells us to "do unto others as you would have them do unto you". That is true gold. If you focus only on yourself and forget others, you are just creating a new trap for yourself. You may not realize that at first, but it will become obvious later. Freedom is to be shared, not jealously guarded, or it is not true freedom.

I have seen too many people, angry at being labeled, label their critics in return. I've listened as two people hurled insulting labels at each other. They were so busy trapping the other person, they didn't realize the trap they were building for themselves.

Before you go further, take your eyes off your own trap and look around you. Are you saying or doing anything that traps other people? Are you focused on their labels and not them? Those are good questions to keep asking yourself for the rest of your life.

Fair enough, is there something you can do about this? Something you can encourage others to do too?
